The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has announced that from July 10, 2015, highway carriers must electronically submit their truck and cargo information to CBSA at least one hour before arrival at the border.
This "Mandatory Compliance" phase is part of the Canada Border Services Agency's larger Advance Commercial Information (ACI) eManifest program, designed to identify import-related threats before they reach the border while allowing CBSA officers to more efficiently facilitate secure shipments into Canada.
The next phase of this program relates to advance information requirements for importers, and is expected to be fully introduced in 2016.
